1. What is ExpenseController?
ExpenseController is a web-based tool for implementing financial controls related to business expenses. For the business traveller, it's a convenient way to keep track of expenses and submit expense reports for reimbursement. For expense approvers, it's an efficient way to approve and track expenses. For accounting departments and financial controllers, it's a powerful tool for timely expense reporting, tracking trends, and controlling spending.
2. Does Expense Controller really help me control expenses, or does it just manage expense reports?
ExpenseController helps you manage expense reports and control expenses. Your employees who travel will appreciate how ExpenseController streamlines the process of submitting expenses. Your financial controller will like how expenses can have spending limits (per expense type), mandatory explanations (again per expense type), and how our comprehensive set of reports offer an unprecedented level of control over your business expenses and insight into where your money is going.
3. What do I need to install on my computer in order to run ExpenseController?
All you need is an internet connection and a web browser. There is no other software to install.
4. Does it work with handheld devices such as Blackberries, iPhones, Androids and Treos?
Yes, there are two ways to use Expense Controller from your mobile device. If you have web access, you can use ExpenseController in the normal way, or use our alternative user interface designed for mobile devices with smaller screens. Alternatively, you can email expense items to ExpenseController from any device that allows you to send email, even if it does not have web access. So your frequent travellers have a choice of ways to manage their expenses while they're on the road.

6. Is there a setup fee?
There is no setup fee if you use our online sign-up pages to set up your account. Alternatively, our friendly staff will set up your account for $39.95. If you would like us to do the setup for you, please start the regular sign-up process — you will see an option to have us do the setup after you have entered your details.
7. Is there a free trial period?
When you sign up via the web, your first month of service is entirely free of charge. Note, however, that there is a non-refundable $39.95 setup fee if we set up the account for you. You can avoid this setup fee by using our easy-to-use sign-up pages. After your free first month, ExpenseController either invoices you or charges your credit card (your choice), starting in the second month.
8. Will my company be locked into a long-term contract?
No. The contract goes from month to month, you can cancel at any time and the first month is free when you sign up via our web pages!
9. How do I get started?
Use our intuitive sign-up pages to sign-up free of account creation charges, or call 1-480-818-6822 to speak with our friendly staff for help with our $39.95 signup special (where we set everything up for you).
10. Can I have a preview of the system?
To get a preview of ExpenseController, please take our system tour. This takes less than five minutes and will give you a general overview of what ExpenseController can do for you.
11. What is your privacy policy?
We will never rent, sell, or in any other way make your information available to a third party unless we have good reason to believe that we are required to do so by law. For more information, please see our privacy policy.
12. Do you support international customers?
We support multiple currency symbols: the dollar sign ($), the British pound sign (£), and the Euro symbol (€). If you are in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand or the Euro Zone, we will automatically use the correct currency symbol for your country. If you are from a country that uses a different currency symbol, please contact us and we will try to accommodate your needs.
Please note that we currently only support the English language and that our product automatically tailors itself to use the variety of English that people use where you live (so our US customers will see US English, UK customers UK English, and so forth). We realize that this is not ideal for countries where English is not spoken, but we're working on it. While we cannot guarantee that we will translate ExpenseController into any specific language, if you'd like to get started using ExpenseController in English, we'll let you switch to your native language (without losing any data) if we translate it into your language. Also, you have complete control over the text used to label expense types and payment types, and any language that uses European script can be used to do this.
13. Which web browsers can I use when accessing ExpenseController?
We've certified the following browsers for use with ExpenseController:

We're not aware of any other popular browsers out there, but if you have another in mind, we'd encourage you to take ExpenseController for a test drive and let us know how it goes.
14. Does ExpenseController let me associate expenses with clients and projects?
Yes. You can create a list of your clients, associate projects or matters with each client, and then associate each expense report with a particular project or matter. This is particularly useful for consulting companies and law firms. For our customers who do not need this feature, it automatically remains hidden if you choose not to create a list of clients and projects/matters.
15. Can I upload expenses directly from my credit card statement?
Yes, you can save a lot of time by uploading card statement data that you have downloaded from your credit card company. The uploaded line items appear in ExpenseController's staging area. From there, you can transfer them into the expense report of your choice.
16. Is ExpenseController available for installation in-house?
Yes. Please contact us to discuss pricing. Or feel free to sign up for a free trial of the hosted version of Expense Controller to see how you like our system. Any data you create can be migrated to your in-house installation, so your time will not be wasted.
